Voices of the Peaks is a choral suite celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Peak District National Park. It was premiered at Buxton International Festival in 2026 by three of Hannah Brine’s choirs: High Peak Singers, Didsbury Singers and Bollington Singers.

The suite journeys through a variety of musical styles, reflecting our relationship with this remarkable landscape while exploring both its natural beauty and its rich history.

What Part Of The Earth Am I? is a bright, folky 6/8 movement, which encourages us to notice the details of the natural world around us, and poses an important question for us all.

Inspired by a talk by Professor Miles Richardson of the University of Derby, whose work explores our connection to the natural world, this movement invites us to reflect on the question: What Part of the Earth Am I?

Rather than seeing ourselves as separate from nature, we are encouraged to notice and appreciate the small details around us – the song of a bird, the movement of grasses in the wind, the changing seasons. Through mindful observation, we can develop a deeper sense of belonging and connection to the world we inhabit.

Celebrating wonder, stewardship and our place within the wider web of life, this movement invites us to pause, look more closely, and recognise that we are not separate from nature, but part of it.
